The Albion, Conwy

Located within the town walls of Conwy the Albion was built around 1925 and now is a fine example of a public house dating from the 1920s.  It was not always the case with the Albion being closed for a number of years before its eventual purchase at auction for around £200,000 in 2012.  It is now run by four different breweries – Purple Moose Brewery in Porthmadog, Great Orme Brewery in Llandudno, Conwy Brewery and Bragdy’r Nant Brewery in Llanrwst.

No food is served and now it is predominantly a drinkers pub which also serves real ale from other Breweries as well.  The original art deco and art nouveau features have remained intact.  It now has three open coal fires with a total cost of around £100,000 having been spent on restoring the Albion to its former glories.

As befits a public house from the 1920s it has no pool table and jukebox but does have board games and newspapers.

2012 marked the year that the Albion received rave reviews from the Guardian and Telegraph Newspapers for possibly being the best pub in the world!  Some accolade!
