White Lion, Llanelian-yn-Rhos

The White Lion is located above Old Colwyn in the village of Llanelian-yn-Rhos and close to the 15^th century St Elian Church.  Parts of the pub date back to this date.  A cobbled courtyard leads to the pub which is one of the oldest, possibly oldest in north Wales.  The inn sign depicts a rampant white lion of Humphrey Holland, former Squire of the Estate, who is entombed in the church.

The interior comprises of a large inglenook with a curving lintel in the bar lounge.  The floor consists of polished flagstones.  A 19^th century church pew is used as one of the seats and some of the ceiling beams came from a demolished chapel in nearby Old Colwyn.

Restored during the 1990s but losing none of its historical ambience whilst also reinstating former features such as a snug by the bar. 

A real ale establishment and featured regularly in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide.  Also offers a decent selection of wine.
