Radnor Arms, New Radnor

The Radnor Arms dates back to 1700 and was later extended with the acquisition of the property next door.  By the 1850s the proprietor was one Thomas Jones.

During the Second World War the Radnor Arms was run by Bill Swain and became popular with British troops stationed at nearby Harpton Court and Downton and with American troops stationed at Kington.

Fire nearly destroyed the public house in December 1976 when the roof and several bedrooms were damaged.  It was the third fire in 15 years and it was forced to close for several weeks, but thankfully it reopened.
