The Grapes, Maentwrog

The Grade II listed Grapes Hotel is located in Maentwrog in the Vale of Ffestiniog.  A former coaching inn which dates back to the 17th century and is one of the oldest and most famous inns in Wales.  The Grapes is conveniently located in the heart of Snowdonia National Park.
Offering a fine selection of real ales. 
It is said that David Lloyd George (1863 – 1945), the former Prime Minister and Lillie Langtry (1853 – 1929) the famous actress had tea at the hotel though not together! 

Victoria Inn, Llanbedr

The stone-built Victoria Inn is a roadside inn dating back to the 1800s and located in Llanbedr village on the banks of the river Artro.  Formerly a coaching inn with the Settle Bar being the oldest part of the building with original features comprising of flagged stone floor, ancient stove  and longcase clock.   
Serving real ales.
Food served in bar and restaurant with the Victoria offering accommodation in the form of five spacious bedrooms. 
Local amenities  include Snowdonai National Park and local beaches.

The Royal Sportsman Hotel, Porthmadog

The Royal Sportsman Hotel was built in 1862 and is located in Porthmadog in the Snowdonia National Park.  It was a former coaching inn and has kept its original charm after being refurbished in 2009.  Past visitors had been transported by stage coaches to their final destinations.  The Royal is a three storey Hotel with 28 guest rooms, with the Hotel having been extended and modernised in recent times. 

Pengwern Arms, Llan Ffestiniog

The old drovers inn, the Pengwern Arms Hotel is located in the village square of Llan Ffestiniog and the Grade II listed building dates back some 300 years.  From the inn the Moelwyn Bach, Moelwyn Mawr and Moel yr Hydd are easily accessible.

The Royal Oak, Penrhyndeudraeth

The bay windowed Royal Oak stands on the High Street in Penrhyndeudraeth and is made of Welsh stone.  Legend has it the lower half of Penrhyndeudraeth was built behind the Royal Oak. 

The Royal Oak is conveniently located to the popular village resort of Portmeirion built by Sir Cliff Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1975.

Popular with locals and tourists alike and serving real ale.

Rhiw Goch, Bronaber

Plas Coch Hotel, Bala

The Plas Coch is located on the High Street in Bala being popular with the local population along with tourists.  Originally a coaching inn and built around 1780. 

The town itself is a gateway leading to the Snowdonia National Park which offers sailing, walks and canoeing.

Penbont Inn, Llanrug

Penbont Inn from the car parkA black and white fronted locals inn in Llanrug, north Wales.  Up until the 1960s it was called the Railway Inn but it’s name was changed with the closure of the railway line.

The Penbont Inn has a games room which includes a pool table and darts board.

Serving a selection of real ale.

Gors Bach Inn, Llanddeiniolen

A hidden gem located on the B4366 in Llanddeiniolen close to the Snowdonia National Park.  Beautiful views from the inn which can be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.

Real ale establishment much enjoyed by walkers in the area.   Four pint pitchers available at bar. 

Refurbished at the end of 2010

Greenwood Forest Park located nearby. 

Ancaster Hotel, Betws-y-Coed

After closing the Ancaster Hotel became the Riverside restaurant.
