The Three Tuns, Hay-on-Wye

The Three Tuns dates back to the 16^th century and is one of the oldest standing buildings in town which is located in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park.  It can rightly claim to be the ‘first and last’ pub in Wales.  Before being damaged by fire in 2005 the Three Tuns had hardly changed in a hundred years where beer was hand-drawn from casks and served in pitchers.

Painstakingly restored the pub has been restored to its former glory.  The Grade II listed building was originally a three bay timber framed hall house.  The large inglenook chimney is still intact as well as other features including an original dog leg staircase.

At one time the pub was used in the film ‘On the Black Hill’

Reputedly haunted.
