Royal Oak, Betws-y-Coed
Submitted by PubsCymru on
A former coaching inn set in the picturesque Snowdonia National Park. The coming of the railway brought trippers and prosperity to Betws y Coed. The Royal Oak was rebuilt and enlarged in 1861.
The sign of the new hotel was painted by David Cox in 1847 who specialised in water colours. Original sign now preserved in the building. When the hotel fell on hard times the sign was listed as one of the proprietress assets and valued at £1,000
Offers a wide selection of lager, spirits and real ale, some brewed locally.
